At one point in my life, exercise was a dominant part of my weekly routine. As my health started to decline, my energy took a dip too. I started not being able to walk for long periods of time and when I was feeling up to it physically, my mind (and sometimes my spirit) were not up for the challenge. It takes you about 6-8 weeks to get into a routine but less than a 2 weeks to get out of one. And you know what happened, I got out of my normal activity routine and my health issues started to take over since I was not putting up much of a fight without an exercise regimen.
Starting from the beginning was a necessity. Reexamining what the types of exercises I enjoyed and matching them up with what I can physically do now was the key. For example, I like to bike ride and walk however with my vision declining it was important for me to find a cardio machine, like an elliptical, that was easy on the joints. Adding a routine of stretching every morning and evening helped my body (and mind) get ready for the day ahead. From the top of my head to the bottom of my feed, I every day I stretch along with deep concentrated breathing to begin and end my day.
A steady pace of 30 minute of the elliptical or walking three times a week, healthier eating habits and multi-vitamins and minerals have put me on the path to wellness. I have lost 30+ pounds and have more energy and focus that I ever have.
